(from the visitors' book, in reverse chronological order) We stayed in the Carcassonne Penthouse with our six children (ages 10-20) during a road trip from our base house in Mialet. The stay was wrapped by a day and a half with James McDonald touring Carcassonne and Cathar Country. Both James and Sophie were awesome before, during and after our stay. The Penthouse was well-situated in Carcassonne and comfortably accommodated our party of eight. We would definitely stay again when visiting Carcassonne. Molly & Mike, Nashville, USA, September 2015
Hola!
26-29, Marzo, 2013
Hello future penthouse renters, Lucky you! Enjoy your time here. My wife and I spent six weeks here, from Feb 1 to March 14, 2013 and had a grand old time in Carcassonne. We have a few tips for you: Our favourite restaurant in town is Le Blé Noir, a creperie on rue de Verdun. They serve authentic, Bretagne style galettes and crepes, and the couple who own it are wonderful, gracious hosts. The lunch set formule du midi, is a particularly good value. The best bread in town is also on de Verdun, at Boulangerie Noez (57 rue de Verdun, to be exact). The have a variety of baguettes, all of which we enjoyed, but our favourites were the walnut baguette, a seeded baguette we first encountered at a local restaurant and their standard baguette. If you rent a car, do try to book a spot on a tour of Niaux Card. The paintings (14,000 years old) are spectacular. Caution: it´s a bit of a hike to get to. Other good restaurants include L´Atelier (pizza and pasta, on Place carnot); Bloc G (contemporany French, just over the Pont Vieux); Coté Ferme (contemporany tapas and wine bar); and Los Delices de Tetouan, a Moroccan place on rue Libarte tasty Tajmes (or tagines, depending). Thanks to Sophie for the wonderful apartment! Jay and krystal Vallejo, California.
We spent a wonderful Christmas here. The light coming into the apartment in the morning is just amazing and makes the whole place very cheery. The shower is excellent and facilities good. Thanks for such a wonderful, spacious and restful bolt hole. Best wishes for 2013. Maria, Stuart and Lulu and Ben Wilson, Harare, Zimbabwe. 20th 29th December, 2012
My friends and I came to Carcassonne Penthouse and use it as a base to go to Rennes-le-Chateau, Avignon, Lourdes and Marseilles. Excellent places to visit especially if one has been fascinated with the Cathars and the Templars as I have been from childhood. It was certainly a dream come true. Many, many thanks, Sophie! Left a bottle of Rennes-le-Chateau sparkling wine in the fridge and a small box of Stettler chocolat for you enjoy! All the best, Josephine M.Reignante, Necitas R. Dinaynga, Ryan Francis Gener, Jessyca Emmeline Van Weelde, 6th 9th September 2012
We all loved the apartment and it was the perfect base from which we could explore beautiful Carcassonne. The loft was spacious and surprisingly modern while still incorporating elements of traditional French life. One of the things that we enjoyed the most was getting a bus out to the lake on the hotter days, in order to cool down. We would also recommended going to the Aqua park on the lake which is a lot of fun! We also suggest the castle only a 20 minutes walk away. It has jousting shows, shops and plenty of restaurants, there really is something for everyone! Another great day out was hiring some bikes and cycling along the Canal du Midi. We do agree with some of the previous comments regarding the terrace, and we think that a slight makeover would make this the perfect accommodation. Regardless, we loved our stay and cannot wait to return to this great part of France! Merci, au revoir! The Byrne Family from Bournemouth, England, 20-24 August 2012
We spent three nights in this nice apartment. We had a relaxed time, took one day for the Bastide, one day for the Cité and we went one day to Limoux. We liked the Divina Comédie restaurant, the Taj Mahal was ok, and the pizzeria close to the railway station was less nice. Concerning the trains: on the line Carcassone-Limoux-Quillan train tickets are only one euro. Not far from the railway station there is a LIDL supermarket. We took the 18:00 boat trip along the Canal du midi: phone in advance to get tickets. It was nice, but a bit long. Thanks! Joost, Kiki, Rutger, Maryn from Netherlands, 25-28 August, 2012
We loved the loft it has a really homely feel to it, so relaxing and rustic and in a fabulous position for discovering the sights of Carcassonne, and it´s beautiful Medieval City. Enjoyed the jousting tournament (even though didn´t understand a word, got the jist!). Had a beautiful meal in a restaurant within the walls, no dearer than in town either. The square round the corner near the Church was a good find, great for sitting sipping wine and people watching. Well stocked supermarket there too (Carrefour City) like a mini Waitrose! Made a lovely meal in your kitchen, brilliant collection of cooking stuff! Bedrooms so comfortable and cool, and your bathrooms were spot on too. Loved every minute of our stay here, thanks for finding such a gem and sharing it. Sarah, Dave and 2 teenage boys!!!, Sheffield, Yorkshire, 12th 15th August, 2012
After a dodgy start owing to Ryanair changing the flight times and date, therefore missing a day at the penthouse we arrived on time, and cannot criticize Ryanair for that! Thank you, Sophie, for the suberb accommodation, so amply and confortably stocked. If I were to be picky and offer a suggestion, it would be to give the roof terrace a makeover! How about a white wash, new furniture and BBQ, a parasol and replacement plants with a request to visitors to water them? After all the watering can is provided. These simple upgrades would give the property a 10/10 rating a Booking.com!! So, many things over the week have made our stay in Carcassonne special Couple of minutes amble to the square to enjoy an early evening drink. Several visits to the medieval city the white petit train from Le Dome at 2 euros one way, 3 euros return is pricey but great fun. Time table from tourist information (Rue verdum-next street). In the city the castle is a must do but go early or later to avoid long queues in searing heat. Favourite restaurant: L Ecu Dior, in a quiet backwater past the cathedral. Good value. Excellent Cassoulet. Cathedral better outside than in! Saturday market heavenly, fantastic, don´t miss it gone by lunch time. Lac du Cavayere lovely! Only 1€ each way a the bus from Le Dome (timetable at the bus stop ligne 1) 20 mins. Fabulous swimming. Train to Narbonne. 35 minutes, about 20€ return. Buy tickets in advance long slow queues. We really liked Narbonne. Fantastic Cathedral. Well worth a visit. Pretty town square. Canal du Midi. The one and a half hour Cité trip was lovely. Again get tickets in advance. I love the plane trees everywhere. Such a beautiful part of France, new for all us. And the locals are extra friendly, all of them. Our stay enhanced by the Olympics, all those medals for team GB! Watched without the sound drinking wine. Happy times. We hope our comments are useful. Freda (grandma), Crill (mum), Anna and Louise (daughters), 1st 8th August 2012 from Liverpool
We arrived in beautiful weather, that lasted for one day, then it was wet, windy and cold. So we are grateful for this lovely warm, light and homely apartment to call our home for one week in this quaint, beautiful, friendly town of Carcassonne. We would like to recommend La Comedie Restaurant. Just turn left out of the apartment and left again. Few steps on the right. Friendly, good atmosphere and great food. Recommend the Canal tour. Cost 8,50€ and well worth it. The markets in the main square on a Saturday are full of beautiful fresh foods. Bought the best strawberries for 2€! You can catch a mini train to and from La Cité or a 10 minute walk from here. Be careful as on a Monday. Everything is closed! We felt safe walking all the streets here at night. On Thursday there is a trash n´ treasure market in Gambetta Square which is to the right out of the apartment all the way to the top. Also thanks for all the DVD´s and tapes, enjoyed them on a wet and cold afternoon with a lovely glass of wine. Best wishes. Jeanette and Anne-Marie, Sydney, Australia, 16th 23rd May 2012
L´appartement est une trés belle location. La Ville est trés joilé! Une adresse à recommander. Excellents! Bien a vous. Muriel et Jean Michel et ses enfants, France de Toulon, 25 Mars 2012
Despite the weather, we have had a great time in the house and in Carcassonne. Paul and Lola from Holland, Roser and Pere from Barcelona and Octavi and Asumpta from Valencia, January 2012
Dear Sophie, Fabulous accomodation. Breathtaking landscape and Le Cité. La Divine Comédia was excellent for dinner. Thank you for all your kind directions and information. Enjoyed our stay very much. The Carbonés UK, December 2011

Townsville, Australia
Excellent Apartment, Super Location Lovely restaurants in Le Cité but if you prefer something local, Le Magnac on Rue Amagnac served really good food and friendly staff. Also The Celt Iron Bar has good pints and nice staff. If hiring a car Make sure to do that at the airport, we hired from L.O.V. on Rue Franklein Rossevelt Rip off!!! Thank you Debbie, Kevin and Peter, Ireland, 11 November 2011
What a wonderful holiday and lovely apartment! Will certainly return to Carcassonne. Cocktails in the gardens of the Hôtel de la Cité unbeatable! Bonnie, Cheilyn, Leighton, 1-5 October, 2011
Beauriful space. So bright and cosy. Great weather. Being so near to everything was a bonus.
Another great stay in Carcassonne ! We must try it now in another season with different weather. So easy to reach by train from London. Arminel, Anthony, Edward, William and Hugh, London, England, August 2011

In spite of the heat we enjoyed ourselves very much. Especially market day Saturday and beach Leucate which we returned to Sunday afternoon. Faye, David, Oscar, Georgia and Harri, Devon, England, August 201d
Gracias Sophie. Familia Zamora, Agosto 2011, Barcelona, Spain
We loved Carcassonne and think your apartment is excellent too. We've been welcomed at the Divine Comedy, climbed up Peyreperteuse and taken some splendid photos. Best wishes Peter, Elaine, Lyndsey and Jon, UK, August 2011
Thank you for having us as guests in your beautiful apartment. We felt more like citizens than just tourists. We just did the tourist highlights and will come back for 'extras'. Carcassonne is more beautiful than we already expected ! Dante, Aurélie, Marije and Erik, Delft, Holland, July 2011
We enjoyed our stay very much. A beautiful town. Loved the town square. Would love to spend longer here. Colin, Geoff and Trudy, NSW, Australia, July 2011
At the end of our holiday here in Carcassonne, we have enjoyed it very much. Thank you to all the previous visitors for all their recommendations. We hired bikes and cycled along the canal - the tip is to go for the comfort bikes with the large brown seats we managed to cycle 50 kms on them dinner at le Côte Ferm wad our favourite. La Jardin d'Eté on the way to La Cité is great too. Good pizzas. Paul, Zofija, Sam and Maddie, Argyll, Scotland, July 2011
We have really enjoyed our stay in Carcassonne ! The apartment is comfortable and so pleasant to relax in after sight seeing. It is bright and tastefully decorated in a modern yet traditional French style. We enjoyed the boat trip on the Canal du Midi, we hired bicycles and rambled alongside the river Aude, taking time for a picnic. We loved eating in the bistro near the hotel Terminus just before the railway station. The lunch menu is the best value, it gets full marks for variety, presentation and excellent service. We also enjoyed a meal in La Coté ferme. It was a new concept in dining. The deli next to it is wonderful for cheese, ham etc. There is a great fish shop on this street up on the left opposite les Halles which is a great indoor food market. The boulangerie opposite La Ferme deli is worth a daily visit. The location of this apartment cannot go without mention - everything is so easy to reach. We strolled up to la Cité three times - it took 15 minutes. Each time there was something new. For example there is a small military museum just beyond the turn towards the castle. A veteran gave us a personal tour and spoke of the experiences of his family and neighbours - after seeing the bayonets there, I looked at the toy swords in the shops around the city in a different way. The service in the shops was excellent and the restaurant La Cortine deserves comment for good quality and service. We enjoyed the festival especially the free Cajan recital in Saint Nazaire and St Vincent. World class events in a unique setting. After a busy day it was good to return to the apartment and relax while talking over our experiences. We enjoyed too the books and DVD's . We will highly recommend a visit to Carcassonne to our friends. Many thanks Colin and Rosemary, Dublin, Ireland, July 2011
Had a great week in Carcassonne. Fantastic apartment bright and airy. Toulouse worth a visit easy by train. Would recommend following the route in the Michelin book as you see all the best bits. Also recommend lunch at the Mangevins eccentric but very welcoming host and excellent food 12 :00 - 13 :00 hrs only. Closed all of August ! In no particular order we recommend :-
Very friendly chilled town. Will return. Thanks to Sophie too, for providing great accommodation within a stones throw of everything..sur roof-top hide away for a week. Off to Collioure now to cook for a week in 30 degrees heat. Hilary and Ian, Cambridge, UK, June 2011
Really enjoyed our time here in your apartment. Great base for town and country. Thanks for the welcome. Ate at La Ferme food OK main courses better than tapas. Wine great especially white Minervois. Amazing food and wine in the adjoining delicatessen. Be back soon. Great place for running. Good route is left out of the apartment down rue Basse, along the river towards Pont Vieux, all around la Cité there is a path, down to the river, towards railway bridge. Another one is along the canal towards Trebes. Bike hire at Evasion2 is also good. If you like a late lunch the bistro opposite the gare does all day food. Dont order the giant salad, its too big but its delicious. Tony, Cork. Ireland, June 2011
We have shared some special evenings eating out and enjoying the casual atmosphere of the apartment. Eating in and celebrating Johns birthday. We were not disappointed with the wonderful ancient city. So sad to be leaving. Our very happy son and his girlfriend flew out today and we are still to enjoy more delights of this wonderful country. Thanks to Sophie for the help you gave us with our bags on arrival. We were a little stressed due to our airport run. Thank you for being so considerate. Sad to leave. We had a super time. p.s. La Ferme was excellent plus we loved the beach setting at La Franqui by sea. Only 1 hour and 10 minutes plus bought some lovely Fitou wine back. John and Suzie, Shropshire, UK, June 2011
Thank you so much Sophie a truly beautiful 'home from home' - Well certainly be back. The apartment beats ALL the hotels hands down. Perfectly located for the Old Square and all its wonderful bars and restaurants and fine walk to the Medieval city (or an 8 Euro taxi !) Thank you for the recommendation of restaurant La Ferme (out main door, left and left again). Sensational food and wines. Thanks again (and see you soon). Marie, Angela, Pat, Forbes and Caroline, Nottingham, UK, June 2011
We had a wonderful week with great weather (red noses). Enjoyed the perfect location of the apartment. Places to recommend : -
Definitely want to return in the future. Many thanks for a great time in this apartment. Erich, Veronika, Nura and Alexandra, Austria, May 2011
We have had a wonderful week in Carcassonne. Thank you Sophie for the care and thought you have put into the apartment to make our stay so comfortable and welcoming. We loved the food, wine, restaurants, beaches, chateaux, castles and scenery. Weather was perfect. The location was great (so was the shopping !). Castles Carcassonne Cité train ride is good p.s. Everyone was very friendly. Luke, Gemma and Matilda, London, April 2011
We have had a great time and the apartment was wonderful. Loved Carcassonne and the surrounding area. We will be recommending you to our friends, particularly our friends at petanque who often travel through France. Thank you so much. Geoffrey and Jennifer, Melbourne, Australia, April 2011
We had a wonderful weekend in Carcassonne. The location of the apartment is brilliant, wonderful sights and exquisite food just around the corner ! La Cité is no longer than 15 minutes away by foot. And the first view and the fortress from the Pont Vieux is breathtaking. We can definitely recommend the restaurant La Sixième Sense just up the street, wonderful food and great service. We will definitely return here. Dustin, Erin, Liam, Mirda, USA and Holland, February, 2011
R, T, E & D, Paris, Octobre 2010
... We have had a wonderful week, and the flat is lovely Great historic buildings to explore, and super walks in countryside around town. Gudrun especially enjoyed the books and films. Thanks to Sophie and Carcassonne for a relaxing break. A & D, M & A, G & I, Edinburgh Scotland, October 2010
Had a wonderful stay - location of apartment excellent - central to the whole area. Lovely to get away from the English weather to enjoy the French way of life. Merci Beaucoup Linda, Allan, Christine and Jerome, UK, September 2010
Fantastic apartment and location. Beautiful old town. Had a great time here, the location was perfect for the wedding we were attending. Mick, Sarah, Daniel and Emily, Shropshire, UK, October 2010
Excellent location, apartment really well equipped. Had a great time here, will definitely be back. M, D and M Gonagle, Galway, Ireland, August 2010
We has a wonderful stay in Carcassonne! Experienced most sites in the area, including one leg of Tour de France ! The fireworks on the 14th were unbelievable and I believe we have tried most of the wines from the area. The apartment is perfect for us, two couples and two 16 year old girls ! Sophie thanks for the herbs. I L, K, E and M, Trondheim, Norway, July 2010
Had a lovely stay. Apartment excellent, weather brill, Inside the Medieval Cite fantastic had some lovely meals and will come again. Sheila and Eric, July 2010
What a wonderful apartment. It far exceeded our expectations. The location is perfect and we were blessed with marvellous weather. From breakfast on the terrace to sinking into most comfortable beds at night we have had a really lovely holiday. Will definitely return here to see more of this fascinating city. A and J, London, UK, June 2010
Had a wonderful stay and thought the apartment was excellent. Hired bicycles from down by the train station and travelled along the canal which was a great day out. M, J, D and H, Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK, May 2010
We have enjoyed your bright, airy peaceful penthouse. As well it is convenient for walking or driving. We appreciate also the authentic spirit of the decor. Even on rainy days the sun shone through at 5pm ! C and J Wilson, Perth, Ontario, Canada, May 2010
Sophie; We have enjoyed our stay at Christmas in Carcassonne in your beautiful penthouse apartment. It is so bright and cheery on grey winter days. The bed and linens are divine! We have walked and enjoyed this ideal location. Alex & Mina, from Canada, December 2009
Great weather, and all the countryside was superb in the autumn sunshine. The trip down to Peyreperteuse and Queribus casteles was excellent, even if we did get lost on the way back to Lagrasse, which looked terrific at dusk. Narbonne also a good trip. Carcassonne and the flat were also excellent . Mick, Breda, Sam & Siniad, England, October 2009
Excellent weather. Apartment worked well for five of us. The Moulin de Trèbes , just past Trèbes Boat Centre (maybe a quarter of a mile on) was the gastronomic hihghlight(it's on the Canal du Midi, follow the towpath to the next lock). Chrispin et al, UK, October 2009
Carcassonne is very beautiful. Recommend a visit to the Cité - we saw an amazing choral group in the cathedral. Place Carnot perfect for a drink or meal + watching the world go by. Jim, Val & Don, England, September 2009
Great apartment - plenty of room for 2 adults and 4 large boys (18, 16, 14, 12 years old).Loved being at the centre of things... I enjoyed nipping out early to get fresh bread, croissants etc for breakfast. The boysenjoyed the sightseeing in Cité and Bastide. We highly recommend the jousting show. We were without a car, but with [railway] station and buses handy, it's not a problem - we caught the number 1 bus to Lac de Cavayère where we all enjoyed the sandy beach, the gravel beach, a walk around the lake (1-1 ½ hours), pedalos and the most impossible mini-golf we have ever played! We also went to the [Medterranean] beach - train to La Franqui changing at Narbonne - beware the first part of the journey needed a reservation but as we bought the tickets from a machine we were unaware of this. The conductor kindly allowed the dumb foreigners to proceed although 2 of us had to stand. But t was a good journey and the train going across the etang spectacular. Huge expanses of beach at La Franqui - but not many facilities. Also canal trip highly recommended - we had a lovely wooden boat and the guide's commentary was very interesting. We took the tour that went west through 2 locks. We would like to come again - and so would the boys!! Arminel, Anthony, Oliver, Hugh, Edward
& William, England,
A lovely apartment served as a great base for a great holiday. La Cité and the Lac de Caveyer are well recommended. There is also a fantastic Spanish festival at theend of August which must be visited if you are lucky enough to be here at that time. There are performers, food stalls and plenty of sangria! Thank you for a wonderful holiday. Jack, Simon, Ross & Nai, August 2009
Would totally agree [with the previous entry]. The Medieval Cité isalso worth a look. Apartment was just what we needed for a relaxing & fun holiday - would well recommend. Thanks to all who helped make it a great experience. Dan, Maria, Michael & Harry, Ireland, August 2009
Thisis my first attempt at booking a holiday - actually, booking anything - over the internet and I have to say it has been a wonderful experience. The description of the apartment is spot on, and to arriveand have Sophie to deal with our queries was very re-assuring. Carcassonne is a fabulous place for a family holiday, especially as we didn't want to hire a car. Public transport is easy and everyone we came in contact with has been more than pleasant and helpful, particularly with out bad school-French The lake isdefinitely worth a visit - we didn't realise there was a café at it until our second trip there! Steve, Emily, Ciara & Gillian, Ireland, August 2009
... We had an absolutely fantastic holiday! Blessed with great weather. We were delighted with the apartment as it isso central to everywhere and it had everything we needed for cooking and relaxing. It meant so much to us that it was spotless. We really enjoyed the atmosphere at the market days in the nearby square on Tuesdays, Thursdays and biggest market day and best one is Saturday mornings. All the lovely fresh fruit and vegetables were excellent value and went down a treat! A great day out is to get the number 1 public bus at the Dome bus stop which takes you to "L'Auree de Lac" which is a man-made beach which is ideal for swimming and they have boats for hire. They also have an excellent adventure park there. Take thw number 1 bus to the bus terminus to bring you to beach and adventure park. Bus fare €1.20 single journey. Bus timetables in tourist office nearby. We strongly recommend a vist to the castle and the old city of Carcassonne which is within the castle walls. Knights on horses show well worth seeing. We enjoyed a 2¾ hour cruise on the canal which included 1 hour picnic. sincere appreciation Sophie for a great holiday! Mike, Trish & Paul, Ireland, July- August 2009
Many thanks for a lovely stay in your wonderful apartment. It is a pleasure to stay in such a bright well equipped "home from home". we had 5 great nights here and really enjoyed the daily excursions - Airbus factory in Toulouse and water canyoning outside Quillan. From start to finish, our booking reservations etc was friendly and efficient and we thank you so much for that. The Ward Family, Ireland, July 2009
We have had a fabulous week here in the apartment, which is such a perfect base from which to explore the town and surrounding area. Having spent the previous week on a long-boat on the canal, the light and spaciousness of the flat - not to mention the comfortable bed - has been really welcome. The weather has been excellent. almost entirely sunny, but not so hot that we needed to close the door & windows to use the air conditioning. ... On Tuesday & Wednesday we cycled out into the countryside, having hired bikes from "Evasion 2 Roues" at 85 Alée d'Iena. The bike hire was quite expensive at 60 Euros for 2 bikes for 2 days as we didn't qualify for weekend or all-week discounts. ... On Tuesday we cycled North and east to Conques-sur-Orbiel, Bagnoles, Malvies-en-Minervois, Bonilhonnae and Trèbes, returning along the tow-track along the Canal [du Midi] ... On Wednesday we cycled South into some really pretty (and hilly!) countryside. an altogether more ambitious ride past La Cité, Cazilac, Cavanac, Couffoulens, Corrèze, St-Hlaire and along the official scenic route to Limoux ... Shortly before Limoux we passed the vineyard which claims to have been producing "Champagne" - called "Blanquette de Limoux" - for around 500 years predating Champagne. On arrival in the lovely square in Limoux we were able to try it ... ... This morning we bought a selection of wonderful fish for lunch at the poissoniere two blocks along from the apartment and discovered the indoor market opposite in Les Halles ... well worth a visit for your meat and fish having bought your fruit & veg from the market in Place Carnot. Oh - almost forgot that we were lucky enough to arrive in Carcassonne just in time for the music fete on midsummer's day, where we ate, drank and danced until midnight to live music in Place Carnot. Thanks to Sophie for providing the base for such a memorable week! We may well come and do it again! Jez & Ali , from England, June 2009
Loved Quillan and the castles, Mirepoix, Limoux, and Lagrasse. The castle and markets [in Carcassonne] are fantastic. Phil & Lee + Mick & Lisa , from Australia, June 2009
We have had a wonderful time in Carcassonne and surrounds with all its fascinating history. The flat is ideally located for these explorations. Hope to return some time. Janet, Mark, Jan, Brian, Judy & Brian , May 2009
The apartment is centrally located so we were able to take many wonderful day trips. Take a trip to Limoux and go thru the local mountain road to Lagrasse. Don't miss the Saturday market if you're here over the weekend! The Sunday market at Narbonne is definitely worth a trip on your way to Sète for lunch at the Porte. If you're here to celebrate a special occasion, or if you just want a special dining experience you must try Domaine d'Auriac. Great food and service. Try their special drink of Prosecco with three orange liqueurs. Up at la Cité we'd highly recommend going for drinks at the very cozy Library Bar in the Barbicane Restaurant which is in the Hotel de la Cité. Diane & Toby + Diana & Tony , from New York, May 2009
We had a delightful few days in this ideally situated apartment. It was so good to be able to come back to drinks on the terrace after a hard day's sightseeing. Recommended l'Ecurie restaurant. If you're heading to Millau, try to make time to do the cave tour at Roquefort too. Chris, Campbell + Mum , from London, May 2009
Had a marvellous stay in Carcassonne - in the apartment - and the most exquisite meal in La Roulotte - that restaurant is a must - & it's not far - [6] rue Denisse Sue, Mary, Bobbi, Angela , April 2009
We had a great stay, the apartment was very comfortable, our hosts were extraordinary in helping us have a great holiday, Many thanks Kristine, Gavin & Louise

We had a great time here in Carcassonne. Accommodation wonderful, weather usually clear and bright although cold! Snow on Boxing Day a treat. Cité in the snow has to be seen. Up to the Pyrenees for snowboard/skiing over Christmas. Markets great. Area great. So glad we saw the Christmas spirit of this city. Sue and Jim, from Australia, 6 weeks winter 2008
We had a fantastic stay. The Penthouse is lovely, bright, light and comfortable. We loved the layout and enjoyed eating out on our rooftop terrace. Great location for the history and shopping! Thanks for a perfect stay as usual! Best wishes Angie & Ally. from the UK, November 2008

Really enjoyed our stay. Apartment ideally located. Carcassonne really a lovely spot and thoroughly enjoyed the Cité. Well recommended to all. Coleman , Eilish, Gerry, Mary and Shirley from Ireland, October 2008
Spent a lovely few days here. Georgeous apartment! We have a very energetic 18-month old but the location was perfect for her: Place Carnot to run around, a small playground under the bridge and lots of lovely child-friendly restaurants. Our absolute favourite was La Roulette, just off Place Carnot. Delicious food, relaxed environment. Had a very good high chair. Healthy, yummy child's menu (including pumpkin soup). Toys for her to play with, etc La Fontaine d'Helios on Place Carnot is excellent too. Fiannula & Ross from Ireland, October 2008
Very nice stay here. Weather good. Cité beautiful & Canal du Midi lovely too. Wonderful shower in en suite! . Mary & Jim , from Australia, September 2008

Lovely airy apartment in wonderful location. Great town to visit with children - loads of things to do. We hope to return. Fiona, Dick, Mary, Peter, & Paul, from Ireland, August 2008
A very comfortable apartment in an excellent position. Food good, wine good, weather good. Lots to do and see around the area. Buying local produce from markets and cooking ourselves was fun. The medieval Cité was very interesting and the Bastille Day Fireworks were fantastic. Overall it was a real experience ... Irene & Jan, from Australia, July 2008
Thank you for providing such an excellent apartment, so bright and airy ... Holiday was excellent, good mixture of sun and cloud, really needed one more week to get maximum benefit ... Dean & Anne, from Ireland, June 2008
The apartment is beautiful. from the main entrance and dark stairway it is amazing to walk into such a bright and spacious apartment. It has everything you would need for a long or short stay. The Castle is excellent at both day and night. Overall it is a great location. Philip & Audrey, from Ireland, June 2008
The apartment was lovely, well equipped and clean - thank you Sophie. We didn't eat out with our 5 year old, but local markets, fish and meat shops were great, we ate like kings and queens. I am sure that one day we will return. Thanks (Alison) What more can be said - apartment great - all we needed and more - had a great time exploring the local area and tasting wine. everyone so, so friendly, will definitely come back to enjoy the local hospitality in the not too distant future. A big thank you Sophie, our time in your apartment has been great. (Carole) ... this wonderful apartment is both comfortable and full of the kind of things you need. It took us less than two hours to reach the spectacular Millau Bridge via the motorway. this is a lovely journey and the bridge is well worth the trip. We travelled back cross country where Belmont ia a beautiful little town worth seeing. The scenery is great but the drive is very windy and cannot be negotiated in a rush. ... Arriving early [at the Cité] is a great idea if you want to miss the hordes arriving by coach and gave us a peaceful drink in "Le Marrou" in the main square. The Cité is a beautiful site and there are so many restaurants to chose from. The atmosphere in the square is what makes France so good. It is peaceful yet lively. we walked from the Cité to the Canal du Midi and took a one-and-three-quarter hour boat trip up the canal. This was a lovely trip in the sunshine. The trip was good value with an excellent commentary telling us everything we needed to know. We still had time for a late afternoon drink in Place Carnot. This is a welcoming square with a good supermarket, bars, restaurants and a fishmonger who sold us some excellent prawns. The apartment was great for us with a 5 year old. The early mornings and evenings on the roof patio were so peaceful you could hear the flaps of the birds' wings flying above. The position is great for exploring both the town of Carcassonne and the region. It has left us with some great memories. (Darren) Darren, Alison, Rosanna & Carole, from England, May 2008
We could not have found a better long term rental. The apartment has the best light even on the dreary days of February. Great location from which to explore the coast, Andorra, the Pyrenees (Grotte de Niaux worth a visit but book in advance).. Carcassonne was great for walking and running and it was great to be here with the crowds of the old city and without the crowds in the Bastide. Both have their benefits. Will highly recommend this flat to friends. Liz, David, Martin and Rachel, from Canada, Feb-May 2008
Enjoyed a good holiday. Ideal location, spacious and pleasant apartment. Wonderful, relaxing vacation. Enjoyed Christmas fair in Place Carnot If cooking in, do not miss the market in Place Carnot on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. ... Office of Tourism on [rue] Verdun was very helpful. Enjoyed exploring Carcassonne, but allow for business to close for two hours during lunch. Hope you have as much fun as we did! Dan & Nancy, from MA, USA, December 2007
